The MaM Babywearing Cover protects your baby's skin against the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UVA and UVB) rays. 

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. UV-protection rating UPF 50+ is considered the ultimate in sun protection and a fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through, i.e. only 2 percent of the total amont of UV rays. 

It is also important that as much skin as possible is covered.
